From the man page: access the Mac OS X user defaults system

# Change folder that Mac screenshots get saved to

For example, change it so Mac screenshots get saved to a folder on your desktop called screenshots:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture location ~/Desktop/screenshots

Then restart SystemUI server for changes to stick:

killall SystemUIServer
